My guess is that 1 and 2 are definitely doing it behind 3's back, but he's got a hunch and is peeking over to find out once and for all, but 4 is secretly arse over elbows for 3, and is stewing in unrequited lust, sending him mad and ever closer to the red line than everyone else. It's a CYCLE of passion and deceit, a wreck waiting to happen.
I love how when the English win something they all come out of the woodwork and never shut up. You never hear from them otherwise. Give it a while and a few losses and they'll slink back into the shadows like usual.

My guess is they're coming out of a turn and #4 (who was #1 prior to the turn) is rejoining the group after swinging up track.
