Okay people, we know that lots of you are planning Hallowe'en races right now, so send us your fliers and details (our email address is on the top right of the page) and we'll do a big post with them closer to the date. Here's the first one of the season, from Berlin:

The Custom Road Bike Book
The Custom Road Bike, by Rouleur editor Guy Andrews, looks like a pretty decent addition to the bicycle-themed coffee table book family. Including interviews with famed frame builders and photos of their workshops and design studios, the book is a guide to the finest kit money can buy, and looks like it will be full of quality bike porn.

Thunderdrome!
So I think Aaron posted a video a while back about the abandoned Detroit velodrome, and the efforts of The Mower Gang to clean it up and make it viable for racing. Well, guess what? They're racing it. And not just one race, but a whole series of races, for mopeds, scooters and bikes! All proceeds from the races will be put back into repairing and maintaining the velodrome and surrounding park, so if you're in the area you should definitely get yourself over there to either race or just watch the action. This is just one example of some of the really interesting local community participation stuff happening in Detroit right now. Thunderdrome happens on October 16th, and all the details are on their excellent site here.
La Mur de Huy Shirt
Autumn is only just starting, but people are already looking forward to the Spring Classics. Check out this shirt from Gage & DeSoto, celebrating the Flèche Wallonne's infamous Mur de Huy.

Cream of the Crop
CMWC Guatemala
Speaking of Latin American, it looks like everyone had a great time in Guatemala for the CMWC 2010. Velo News has some coverage, as does Moving Target and the Cuttin' Crew (pictured above). I know La Ocho was washed away, but does anyone have a photo of people racing it before the deluge?
Venezuela Kit
I spent a year or so in Venezuela recently and I saw a lot of cyclists riding the Cota Mil or the Velodromo Teo Capriles in their national kit. I love it, and it's now available from Prendas!

The Spring Classics
A bit of a weird time to publish a brand new book about the spring classics, but whatever, it looks great. Available now from VeloPress.
Best Bike Mechanic in Chicago!
Of course, you knew it was going to be Marcus. The guy is a legend. But, seriously, there are a lot of good bike shops and a lot of good bike mechanics in Chicago, and Marcus Moore, proprietor of Yojimbo's Garage, was just voted the best of the lot in Chicago magazine's Best of 2010 issue. Congrats, Marcus!

J.P. Weigle Flickr Hive Mind
I just came across this "best of" collection of J.P. Weigle's Flickr photostream. There are some truly extraordinary photos in there- here are a few that got my attention:

I wish I had more info on this one- such a cool photo!
Drillium to the max! Campy pista end for a 1975 Witcomb show bike
Weigle's incredible lug work
Hand-shaped dropout edge
What an incredible gallery! Check out these and many more here.
