UCI Track World Cup Manchester

The first round of the UCI Track World Cup is happening at the Manchester Velodrome this weekend. Can the British track squad continue their dominance on home soil, or will the squads who did so well at the world championships this year, especially the French sprinters, put up a decent challenge? Check out all the details here.

Denis Menchov is Paul Heaton

Denis Menchov, pointing out where in Italy he's going to fall off his bike during the 2010 Giro.

Paul Heaton, lead singer of The Housemartins and The Beautiful South.

A celebrity/cyclist lookalike post that probably no one will get.

For all the Top Gear fans...

I found this crazy video of a Belgian show called Gala van de Flandrien doing a little a Top Gear spoof with bikes. My Dutch is a little lacking, so I have no idea what's going on, but it's quite entertaining none the less.

There are some great cameos, including a surprise Stig "reveal".

Watch the video here.

If anyone has any other info on this, please fill me in!

Vandedrome for sale!

Anyone got a couple hundred grand I can borrow?

From fixedgearfever...
Vandedrome For Sale
The Vandedrome has been redesigned (with wider turns) and the steel understructure is now restored and powder-coated. It needs a new racing surface. We’ve been unable to find a site and our plans are at a standstill. The track is being offered to another group for only the costs of moving it to their site. This project has great potential and the costs to complete it are minimal. I am personally willing to further invest my time and knowledge to help someone else make a success with it. Please contact: david@majorleaguecycling.com for further information.

Thanks to Ed White for spotting this- see more pics from his set here.

Superb Opening in Boston

A new Boston bike shop is having its grand opening party tonight, so if you're in town you should definitely swing by and check out Superb. Jason and Kip, who have been involved in running Cambridge Bicycle for over ten years, have been working on getting Superb running for over two years now, taking the Boston Bicycle shop and turning into a track/city-riding specific supershop. They decided to call the shop Superb in order to "to symbolize the level of service and quality of bikes and parts in the store." I talked to Jason about the shop a little while ago, and he told me that "Superb will carry a wide selection of fixed gear bikes, from basic to completely custom, as well as the wide selection of all the parts available today. We will also nurture the urban cyclists looking for a super functional urban bicycle, be it fenders, racks, internally geared hubs, etc. Superb will also carry a wide selction of cycling apparel from t-shirts to technical riding gear for city riding in all weather. We will have a fully functional repair shop designed around fast turn arounds and superb attention to detail." Sounds great! Definitely go to the party and check out the shop. More details here.

Cool vid. Remember when everyone wanted NJS bikes because they looked great and were tough as hell? I miss those days.
