R.E.Load X Target

No, just kidding. But it seems that Target might be inadvertently stepping on R.E.Load's toes a little with a "RELOAD" backpack that they're now selling. Well, ripoff blog You Thought We Wouldn't Notice happened to notice. Sure, it's obvious that they are different to most of us, but those logos are pretty similar. Maybe they are just trying to get a jump on all the moms that are learning about track bikes in the comic section...

Innocent coincidence or evil corporate rip-off?

Brilliant bullet!

I've carried a valve adapter on my keychain for sometime for those occasions where you get stranded without a pump and have to improvise, but it always gets in the way and gets my keys tangled. Well it looks like someone came up with a great solution in a keychain that the adapter screws into.

Pick one up over at Chari!

What the hell?!

So I was brunching it up this morning, reading the paper and stumbled upon this gem in the comics section:

Not really sure what it means when comic strip characters are cruising around on track bikes. And am I missing the joke? I don't get it at all...

Chris Hoy Interview

There's a good interview with Chris Hoy over on The Guardian right now. In it he talks about getting back into training after his recent crash, and his brush with celebrity after winning all those Olympic gold medals and BBC sports personality of the year. He also talks about what it's like to be a superhuman badass with legs the size of tree trunks (not really). Check it out here.

New Cadence Gear

I like this new crew neck from Cadence. Check out their other new stuff here.

Like Hypercolor... for your bike!

Here a couple videos of a cool photo-chromatic paint job on the "Sunburn" bike from the GRAND x FixedGearSwitzerland x Opignon Collabo (oh c'mon...)

Very cool idea- like hypercolor but without those embarrassing white armpits!

Thanks to J.Dot for the heads up!

Look 464

Just saw over at Chari that the aluminum Look 464 track frameset I saw at Interbike will retail for $800- not a bad deal!

Please, no bar spins though!

Hopefully one day, that'll be me...

Brooklyn's direct connect to Milan (and my once-upon-a-time loftmate) Camilla has a couple of rad pictures from Eroica 2009 up on her Flickr.

So cool- I'd love to see some more!

Seen here.

Naked Shimano Wingtip

Canadian Builder Sam Whittingham/Naked Bicycles was recently commissioned by Shimano to build an urban townie to showcase their new Alfine group (which is very cool btw). Besides just being a great looking bike, it really stands out for Sam's innovative chainstays. He's calling them "turnbuckle stays" and basically they are adjustable length through threaded plugs and female threaded sleeves which acts to space the stays from the dropout. So in short, Right-Tighty-Shorty / Lefty-Loosey-Longy (ugh, sorry). So it lets you tension a chain without sliding drops/track ends/ eccentric BB/ etc. and works off of the "spring" in seat stays. It's a pretty fascinating idea though, and really offers a good option for developing carbon-belt drive systems down the road too...

Interbike Finale- Random pics, the not-so-good stuff:

Yes, that's right...

Just in case you missed it...

These guys had a more booth space than Eddy Merckx. True story.

Finally I can match my chain to that old salsa rasta tape I've been saving.

Tange 31.8 (throughout) bullhorn

I think I literally slapped my forehead when I saw this one.

Maybe something got lost in translation here- not sure what that ST bend achieves...

I don't think the PK Ripper/DC collabo works quite as well as the Kalavinka/Adidas did...

Again, I didn't bother to ask...

Looks pretty good at first right?

But upon closer inspection...

Welcome to Interbike 2009 2006

Needs more colors...

The winner for worst of Interbike 2009 in my book.

OK. That's it for the Interbike coverage, I promise. You can go ahead and start looking forward to next year now. I know I am...
