Courier Collectives Pt. 2

Here is the second piece in an occasional series of articles about courier collectives, messenger owned and operated courier companies (the first article is here). I asked a few different courier collectives the following question: What makes you different from every other messenger company out there? Here's the response from the legendary Squid, the force behind CycleHawk Messengers Inc.

"I have been an employee in the bicycle messenger industry for many years. I love the job but struggle with the low pay and lack of insurance as do so many. The nature of the business in New York is geared towards a high turnover rate for workers. Most bicycle messengers work for less than two years while the company owners benefit from a disposable workforce.

I co-founded Cyclehawk Messengers Inc. to break the industry standards. Our bikers receive a salary and also the latest gear and upgrades for their bikes. Our goal is a fully insured workforce who have the best equipment, make a sustainable income, and are excited and happy to work in this profession.

I ask for 110% from all of our associates. We are limited financially so we depend on having the best crew to build our business. Our rates are competitive and the service is impressive, we are the best!

I want to be a part of a positive change in the industry. With modern technology we handle more work with less overhead, sharing the benefits and growing together. Our biggest obstacles remain taxes and business insurance. We plan to be on top of these within the next six months. You can check us out at http://www.cyclehawknyc.com/

Ride Safe and see you on the street!"

So that's what makes CycleHawk Messengers Inc. different from other messenger companies. Thanks for taking the time to write that, Squid. Stay tuned for more articles on other messenger-owned courier companies.
