Track Nationals 2011
Hey, if you're anywhere near LA next weekend get yourself over to the Home Depot Center for track nationals! There's a ton going on, and the Friday and Saturday night sessions are going to be like a 6 Day Event, with DJs and food and beer. Good luck to all my friends racing! Details here.

Team Pegasus Trip to Chicago Velo Campus
Last weekend a bunch of us headed down to the soutside to get certified at the new track at the Chicago Velo Campus. Man, the track is a blast! Short and steep, you have to respect the turns and make sure you listen to track manager (and former British National squad sprinter) Peter. Like riding an old fashioned wooden rollercoaster, I can't wait to go back!

Getting ready to roll out.
Riding the rail.
Andy gunning it during his flying lap.
Me, gassed after a flying lap.

Brian's Brainfund
Cuttin' Crew rider and the World's Most Enthusiastic Human®, Brian Ellison, was in a bad crash during the Mayor's Cup race at Kenosha velodrome, and by bad I mean helicopter'd to hospital bad. He's doing well, but needless to say the kid needs a little financial aid. Them air-ambulance rides aren't cheap! His friends have set up a site asking for donations. Check it out here.
Get well soon, Brian!

Save the Velodrome Caps
I've posted a good few times Herne Hill Velodrome, and even visited the track when I was in London. That's why it makes me happy to report that the campaign to Save the Velodrome is really making progress. If you're in London, definitely head down there to check out the racing, and if you're not in London, buy one of these caps from Condor to help the cause. Get the cap here.

Track Season Begins!
Track season in Chicago begins this Thursday, May 19th, after being delayed for a week by the rain. Everyone should get themselves up to Northbrook to race or spectate. Check out the great numbers sponsored by the best bike shop in Chicago, Yojimbo's Garage, and designed by fellow Team Pegasus rider Katy Steudel.
Golden Saddle Cyclery Opens!
LA's newest and best bike shop, Golden Saddle Cyclery, just opened. Some good friends are involved with this shop, and I know it's going to be a massive success. Check out their home page here, their facebook here, and their yelp here, but mostly check them out in person: 1618 Lucile Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90026.

Wouter Weylandt
Kristof Ramon just posted this excellent photo of Wouter Weylandt doing a recon ride for Pairs-Roubaix earlier this year. Rest in peace, Wouter.
Check out more of Kristof's excellent photos here.

Tuxedo Thunder
Damn, Chicago gets another new team! This one is called Tuxedo Thunder, and reminds me of Team Pegasus when we started out: a bunch of friends forming a team to have some fun. Best of luck to all involved. Details here.

The 2011 UCI Track Cycling World Championships was just on. A lot of Australians won races, not many Brits did, and some other people won races too. Sorry for the lack of coverage, but lets be honest, if you're actually interested in international track racing, you're not coming here for your news and photos.
We Are Fixed Gear Hipsters
Man, I love this. Is this new? It can't possibly be, can it? This is definitely from 2006, right? If not, then this is almost as anachronistic as those "hilarious" hipster traps that some wag laid in Williamsburg. Anyway, I think it's great that Hipster Nascar is listed as one of three links under this witty caricature, right alongside fixedgeargallery (they're still going?) and, ironically, bikesnobnyc. Check it out here.
Thanks to Sage Brown for the heads up!

My New 611 Cross Bike
If you were at NAHBS then you've probably already seen my new cross bike, sitting proudly in the excellent Six-Eleven Bicycle Co. booth as one of the five amazing bikes that Aaron brought to the show. If you weren't there, here are a few pics:
I can't wait to race this thing next ChiCrossCup season! It's way more bike than I deserve, and I can't thank Aaron enough for making me such a beautiful frame.
Photos are from the NAHBS page.

Downhill Through the Barrio
Totally insane. I couldn't even ride on a flat road in Austin without almost killing myself, I don't think I'd even make it to the start line here.
Thanks for Eric for putting it up on ChiFG.

Ouch.
No more posts from NAHBS, I'm afraid, as I wrecked riding back from the Mellow Johnny's party on Friday and spent the night in hospital. Prolly and Urban Velo have the best coverage anyway, so head over there for some great pics. ps: I hate bikes.

NAHBS Post 3.
I think these posts are getting successively less rubbish... but I might be wrong.
611 track bike. Brushed stainless steel tubing. Look forward to seeing Mr. Loud race it at Northbrook this season. [edit] TRACK BIKE OF THE YEAR, BABY!!
611 belt-drive town bike.
The bars of the belt-drive town bike. So rad.
Beautiful track bike from Don Walker.
Brooks booth. Is that Moby?
Geekhouse stable. Really nice stuff.
Solid as fuck looking Geekhouse polo bike.
Vanilla booth.
Damn.
Okay, I only got about 4 hours sleep last night, so I'm wrecked, and am taking a break from posting for a while. Check back for more photos as NAHBS continues.
