Full Steam Eddy

I figured this warranted a repost, just incase you missed Prolly's post. I promised him the "exclusive" for his ongoing excellent Merckx Mondays series.

Good stuff indeed.
Be sure to check Prolly's take on it here.

One for Prolly- Eddy Merckx Board Game

So it's Monday- and I'm posting something Merckx related. So hat-tip to Prolly (I think he's got posting about Eddy on Mondays trademarked at this point).

A friend just scored this great rare Eddy Merckx board game off etsy!

So cool! Looks like all the original pieces are there too! Nice score Emily!

I even found this great photo of Eddy playing the game himself!

Sportscaster Cards

So, everyone (Kyle!) has been flipping out about the trickstar card I posted yesterday as a teaser. Here, as promised, are a few other Sportscaster cyling cards from the 70s and 80s. These are the track cycling ones. I like the Eddy madison one, but my favorite is the keirin card with Koichi Nakano. What an MF-ing styler! You can find the rest of the cycling cards, including Eddy and Fausto ones, here.

Thanks to Josh at Deathlap for the heads-up. See 165, I didn't forget you!

Speaking of Eddy in Mexico...

An oldie but a goodie. White tyres? Baller.

Mexico City Velodrome in Swindle Mag

Thanks to Kyle over at Tracko for the heads-up on this article in the newest issue of Swindle about the Mexico City velodrome where Eddy Merckx set his famous hour record. Kyle's right, I do love me some exotic velodromes!

Merckx's Hour Record

Exactly 36 years ago, on the 25th of October, 1972, Eddy Merckx set a world hour record of 49.431km in a velodrome in Mexico City. That remains an impressive distance. Chapeau!

Gage & Desoto

Gage & DeSoto, the clothing company responsible for this Eddy shirt, have a new webpage up. Maybe we can expect some new shirt designs too? Check them out here. Also, all their shirts are designed and screened using water-based, eco-friendly inks. Deadly buzz, wha'?

The Cannibal

No special bike, no special helmet, just one man against the clock. Incredible. As seen on Belgium Knee Warmers.
