My New 611 Cross Bike

If you were at NAHBS then you've probably already seen my new cross bike, sitting proudly in the excellent Six-Eleven Bicycle Co. booth as one of the five amazing bikes that Aaron brought to the show. If you weren't there, here are a few pics:











I can't wait to race this thing next ChiCrossCup season! It's way more bike than I deserve, and I can't thank Aaron enough for making me such a beautiful frame.

Nice Look!

It took me a while to figure out why this bike looked (no pun intended) a little strange, and then I realised it's a scale model, made out of paper! It was posted on ChiFG, but other than that I have no idea where it's from. Anyone?

New Six-Eleven Bicycle Co. Cross Bike

Sage just got this ridiculously nice cross frame from Aaron at Six-Eleven Bicycle Co., and I am jealous. Aaron won Rookie Builder of the Year at NAHBS last year, so definitely check out his booth in Austin in February, it's going to be great!

Stolen Carbon Hotness

This gorgeous Team PloughmanCraven Pinnacle track bike, belonging to team rider James McCallum, was ganked out of the back of his car at the Scottish Track Championships at Meadowbank Velodrome in July. No word on whether he got it back, but if he didn't, someone is riding around the streets of Edinburgh on a very distinctive track bike...

Carbon Hotness

I'd honestly never heard of this brand before, but apparently Massi are a Spanish component and frame maker who have been around since 1934. This is their brand new Pro Track carbon monocoque frame. It's nice, though I personally dislike such small rear triangles, and will cost US$2,335, which isn't bad for a pro level carbon track frame. More details here.

NAHBS 2009

I hope everyone is ready for this, because it's going to be immense. The best bike builders in the world are congregating in Indiana at the end of February 2009, so you best be there if you want to get up close and personal like with real-life bike hotness. It'll be like one of those sleazy porn industry trade shows, but with fewer perverts... or maybe not. Details here.

Ballan's World Champion Wilier - Part 2

I found this great photo of Ballan riding his new bike in the Giro di Lombardia recently. The gold of the fork and tape looks even better than I thought, and it's cool that Wilier finally get to add the world champ rainbow to their bikes. I didn't want to start the weekend on a downer, so following that Wiggins' article I though I better post some bike porn, sharpish! I like Alessandro Ballan, and I love Wilier, so I was pretty excited to see this World Champion edition Wilier Cento built specially for Bettini's successor. Sweet.

Eurobike Bike Porn

Theo Bos' crazy Koga-Miyata KIMERA. This bike is supposed to cost, like, $3,000,000 and can go into space, or something. Actually, I'm not sure that's right, but either way, it's impressive. It's a bit of a pity Theo didn't make better use of it at the Olympics, though. He's still a freaking badass, don't get me wrong, but it just did not happen for him on the boards this year. Yes! Finally! A picture of Joan Llaneras' Olympic gold medal winning Cervélo P3C Track! I've been trying to get a clear photo of this bike since the Olympics, but no dice, till now. I love the paintjob. Unlike Bos' custom made monster, Llaneras P3C is built around the a standard P3C frame, but with a different fork and a custom paintjob reflecting Llaneras' status as a world champion and olympic gold medalist. Last and very, very definitely least, the brand new Fuji Track Pro. It may not be anywhere near the bike of the other two, but it looks pretty good. That smaller rear triangle still annoys me, but on the whole this looks like a pretty solid entry into the mid-level track bike bracket. I wonder how long it'll take Fuji to shift all those old Track Pros they rebranded as Comps? My advice, paint 'em all celeste. Photo from Eurobike by Bill Le Fromagier.

Looks interesting. After releasing the exact same frame every year, albeit with a different paint-job each time, it looks like the next iteration of the Track Pro has a redesigned frame. Check out that seatpost. That's serious business right there. Thanks to ChrisP for the heads-up.
